About

GUMPS Aviation loves RV’s. We have been building and flying RV’s for years, and during that time we have built every one of Van’s models (excluding the RV-3 and RV-15). Some might even say that we are addicted to RVs. We’ve built slow build and quick build, experienced the changes in construction techniques over the years, and we continue to advance our techniques at every opportunity.

In that regard, we would like to give credit to our customers, the learning experience is not a one-way street. We have gained a vast amount of knowledge from our customers. That’s the chief advantage of the camaraderie we’ve fostered: when we work together, everyone benefits. We thank all of our past customers for improving our knowledge base. When we work together, we all win!

My RV journey began in the 90’s, with a flight to Van’s Aircraft facility in a Cessna 172. At that time Van’s facility had a grass landing strip. I took off from that grass strip with an empennage kit for an RV-6A in the back of my 172. Shortly after purchasing my empennage kit, I took a Basic Builder Class at Van’s Facility. Work and life got in the way of my progress with building my plane as fast as I wanted; we all live with that. My career took me away from land for long periods of time. I was a Chief Engineer on a 270ft Catcher/ Processor in the Bering Sea. So, I hired Glenn Howell, a college kid needing a part time job. Glenn grew up helping his dad and brother build and work on aircrafts. Glenn was great, I learned a lot from him and his brother. I know that I probably would not have finished my plane without this help.

In 2008, Glenn and I started teaching Build Basic Classes and proving technical support. We also provided a place for others to build. I have built a RV-6A, RV-10 and RV-14A, with help. Not one person will build a plane without some help and that is what we provide, help. We have helped build all of the Van’s models (with the exclusion of the RV-3).

I look forward to the chance to meet and assist you at your level. If you have any questions, you can contact me at Dennis@GUMPSAviation.com

Foot Note: I have retired from 36 years of fishing in the Bering Sea. I have this company because I enjoy being around aircrafts, helping people get started in the right direction and all the friendships I have made along the way.
